Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions
Everything you need to know about how Fixbun works, compatibility, privacy guarantees, and performance.
Does my file really never upload anywhere?
Yes, 100%. Fixbun reads the file into your browser's local memory and writes the new file directly there. There is no remote backend, no user account, and nowhere to transmit your original media.
Why does video re-encoding take a bit of time?
Because your browser re-encodes the video frame by frame using your local hardware. A one-minute high-definition video generally takes about 30 to 60 seconds depending on your device processor. Keep the tab open while processing completes.
What video and audio formats are supported?
Fixbun supports standard web formats including MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV for video; MP3, WAV, AAC, M4A, OGG for audio; and JPEG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, and HEIC for photos.
Are there any file size caps?
Because processing happens directly in your browser's RAM, practical limits depend on your computer or phone's available memory. Videos up to 1GB to 2GB and images up to 100MB are handled comfortably on modern devices.
Will Fixbun work if my internet goes down?
Yes! Once the webpage assets are loaded into your browser cache, the processing logic executes entirely offline. You could turn off your Wi-Fi and still compress images, scrub metadata, or trim audio.
Is there any watermark or subscription required?
Never. All core fixes are clean and watermark-free. You get pure, unbranded output files every single time.
Can I use Fixbun on mobile browsers like Safari or Chrome on iOS / Android?
Yes, Fixbun is fully responsive and supports mobile browsers that implement standard HTML5 Canvas, File API, and Web Audio.
How does the location scrubbing work?
On JPEG and PNG images, Fixbun locates and strips the EXIF, IPTC, and XMP metadata chunks without degrading visual image quality. Any embedded GPS coordinates, camera serial numbers, or date stamps are permanently erased.
Still have a question or need a tool?
Fixbun is actively developed with new client-side utilities added regularly.
